4.2nd edition of the free training project “Programming the Future” now open for applications

November 10th

Registration is now open for the 4th edition of the “Programming the Future” project, promoted by Coimbra City Council, in partnership with SIC Esperança and with the support of Google.Org. The free initiative aims to create digital rooms to train young people between the ages of 18 and 30 in the areas of programming, coding and robotics, strengthening their qualifications and employability. The initiative will take place at the D. Pedro V Municipal Market.

Three phases of training

The program will take place in three complementary phases. The first is aimed at professional trainers linked to the technology sector, who receive additional training in robotics and programming. In the second phase, the young participants, who are unemployed or at the start of their careers, receive specialized training with a view to their professional integration. The third phase involves children between the ages of 8 and 14, who will be trained by the beneficiaries of the project, under the guidance of professional trainers.

Training in the Municipal Market

The new edition is scheduled to start on December 6, with sessions on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in a dedicated space in the D. Pedro V Municipal Market. The training lasts 30 hours, corresponding to the first phase, and also includes a 12-hour internship, coordinated by the Coimbra City Council, during which the trainees take on the role of trainers with the children.

Residents of the municipality of Coimbra, aged between 18 and 30, can apply. Those registered with the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP) and actively seeking employment are considered unemployed.

Registration

Registration and detailed information are available on the website of SIC Esperança and through online form of the project.
