Municipal Museum hosts colloquium on Queen Isabel on May 13th

Next Wednesday, May 13, the Municipal Museum of Coimbra – Chiado Building will host the colloquium “I, Queen Isabel of Portugal,” an initiative dedicated to reflecting on the life, actions, and legacy of Saint Queen Isabel. Part of the program of the exhibition of the same name, on display at the Torre de Almedina | Núcleo da Cidade Muralhada until May 23, as well as marking the 400th anniversary of the canonization of Saint Queen Isabel (1625–2025) and the 700th anniversary of her pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela (1325–2025), the colloquium will bring together experts from different fields for a multidisciplinary approach to this historical figure. Admission is free, but registration is required.  

The colloquium is promoted by the Municipal Museum of Coimbra, in partnership with the Paço dos Duques de Bragança, the Castle of Guimarães, and the Church of São Miguel do Castelo – Museums and Monuments of Portugal, E.P.E.
