“Cantinho ConTacto” promotes intercultural encounters at the D. Pedro V Municipal Market

The D. Pedro V Municipal Market is hosting the “Cantinho ConTacto – Space for Intercultural Encounters” project, a joint initiative of the Inclusão ConTacto Association, the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Coimbra (LAbJogos) and the Municipality of Coimbra.

Weekly meetings for all ages

The activity takes place weekly, on Wednesdays, in the Market Training Room, and aims to promote intercultural meetings that favor the social and educational inclusion of migrant people, especially children, young people and families.

Educational and emotional support in a relaxed atmosphere

The space offers psycho-pedagogical support, with Portuguese language practice, knowledge sharing and study support; psycho-educational accompaniment, through mutual support groups, individual counseling and thematic workshops; and playful and educational dynamics based on games, in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Equality and inclusion as pillars of municipal action

The Office for Equality and Inclusion of Coimbra City Council ensures institutional coordination, the provision of space and the promotion of equality and inclusion as fundamental pillars of municipal action.

A project for a fairer and more intercultural city

The Cantinho ConTacto is a complementary response to formal support structures, reinforcing Coimbra’s commitment to a fairer, more inclusive and intercultural city.
