New feature of the L.ai – Holistic Waste Management app promotes sustainable practices

June 26th

The L.ai – Holistic Waste Management Project, which is being experimented with at #CoimbraCityLab, has launched a new feature, entitled “I want some advice”, to promote sustainable circular economy practices among all the app’s users. This new feature aims to support all citizens and companies in making more sustainable decisions about their waste. It is now available for free in the mobile app, starting with version 1.07.

Through a photo or simple description, the L.ai artificial intelligence model interprets the object, material or waste presented and immediately provides practical and sustainable suggestions based on the seven R’s of the circular economy: Rethink, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Repurpose and Recycle.

This new feature thus values solutions with greater environmental benefit and is accessible to all users, also allowing them to save the advice in the Personalized Education section of the app, as well as share a summary of it via social networks or communication applications. In this way, environmental literacy focused on waste is promoted, as well as civic mobilization for a more circular and conscious economy.

In addition to this new tool, citizens and local businesses in the municipality of Coimbra can still use the L.ai app to, among other features, submit requests for bulky waste collection at home or at their business establishment, facilitating proper disposal and improving the public space by preventing irregular dumping.

The app L.ai is available free of charge for mobile devices running the Android or iOS, and can be used completely free of charge. The experimentation with this mobile application is part of Action 3.3 – Experimentation with Innovative Projects in Development, within the scope of #CoimbraCityLab, integrated into the Marketplace initiative of the @Baixa Coimbra project.

Remember that the #CoimbraCityLab is an initiative of the City Council of Coimbra to support the development and experimentation of innovative and sustainable technology-based ideas and projects in a real environment, through the provision of physical urban space and the technical knowledge and experience of municipal services, also serving as a facilitator in the creation of partnerships to support and continue the development of projects. The initiative is open to all natural and legal persons, whether public or private, within the scope of technological solution projects that fall within the objectives and requirements set out in the regulation
