The “Montra das Artes & Ofícios” (Arts and Crafts Showcase) will once again liven up the city center on July 20, between 9:00 and 19:00. The initiative, which promotes the tangible and intangible heritage of the city and the region in the area of handicrafts, will host 12 exhibitors in Ferreira Borges and Visconde da Luz streets. As far as entertainment is concerned, there will be three events during the day, the result of collaboration between the groups that are part of the municipality’s associations that are taking part in the municipal cultural program.
The “Montra das Artes & Ofícios” brings 12 exhibitors to downtown Coimbra next Sunday. From 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., visitors will be able to appreciate products linked to the arts and crafts, discovering heritage through the art of creating handmade objects, with the opportunity to observe live work, which will demonstrate the different stages of execution of a handmade piece, with the artisan’s signature.
The event will showcase leatherwork, ceramics, Almalaguês weaving, wooden utensils or pieces designed using gourds, among other areas of production associated with the vast repertoire of craft activities.
With the aim of involving the municipality’s associative fabric in this street initiative, this edition of Montra das Artes & Ofícios will include the participation of the Imperial TAFFUC – Academic Tuna of the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Coimbra (at 11:00), the Concertina Group “Vamos a Elas” (at 16:30) and the musician Cazikode-Zé, representing Motivos Alternativos – Associação Cultural (at 18:00).
The initiative, organized by the Coimbra City Council, has as partners the Agency for the Promotion of Downtown Coimbra (APBC), CoimbraMaisFuturo and CEARTE – Professional Training Centre for Crafts and Heritage.
The event returns to Ferreira Borges and Visconde da Luz streets on 17 August.
