This Saturday, February 28, admission to the Coimbra Municipal Museum (MMC) and the Coimbra Contemporary Art Center (CACC) is free, as it is every fourth Saturday of the month.
As usual, the curator-led visit to the CACC exhibition will take place at 3pm, followed by the workshop Artsketchers, both of which require registration.
In the Chiado Building, visitors can see the permanent Telo de Morais collection, made up of Portuguese paintings, porcelain, furniture and sacred art. At the same time, you can also see the Túlia Saldanha exhibition “in me and in you (even if we don’t know it)“, a major show dedicated to one of the most important figures in contemporary art and art education in Coimbra. The exhibition, which also extends to the Sala da Cidade (now with free admission), is open until March 8.
The Almedina Gallery of the Coimbra Municipal Museum is hosting, until March 8, the exhibition “Between times: fragments of now“, which brings together works by students from the 2nd and 3rd years of the degree in Art and Art Education.º years of the degree in Art and Design at the Coimbra School of Education (ESEC), based on the work of the artist Túlia Saldanha.
The CACC, meanwhile, is hosting the exhibition “O mundo está todo aqui dentro“, curated by Raquel Magalhães, until March 22, has, as usual, an accompanied visit at 15:00 and the workshop Artsketchers at 16:00. The Almedina Tower is hosting the exhibition “Eu, Dona Isabel, Rainha de Portugal”, dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the canonization of Isabel of Aragon. The Torre de Anto presents the Núcleo da Guitarra e do Fado de Coimbra, which combines the history of the song and the instrument with the heritage of the medieval building. In the Inquisition Building, you can visit the permanent exhibition “Jews of Coimbra – from Tolerance to Persecution: Memories and Materialities”.
The opening hours of these centers are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (in the Almedina Tower and Anto Tower), and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. (in the Inquisition Building).
