Coimbra Contemporary Art Centre with special Easter program

March 31th

During the month of April, the Coimbra Contemporary Art Centre (CACC) will once again open its backstage to the public with the “Doors Wide Shut” program. This initiative coincides with the Easter school break, inviting participants of all ages to explore the exhibition space in a creative way.

During April, the “Doors Wide Shut” program is once again available at the CACC, with a series of initiatives revealing the backstage of this exhibition space.

Integrated in this program, the CACC offers a diverse set of workshops and experiences that stimulate the imagination and artistic thinking. The usual “Giant Drawings”, “Vertical Drawings” and “Curatorial Exercises” activities are joined by new proposals such as the “Easter Forest” workshop, which challenges participants to intervene in an immersive installation with Easter-inspired elements; the “Omelette without eggs” workshop, a contemporary classic; and “Let’s talk about the weather”, a performance-talk centered on ecosystem issues.

Also noteworthy is the “A Gesture That Counts!” project, which invites you to create a fanzine from a pictorial stain, exploring gesture as a form of artistic expression and language. The initiative proposes a free approach, where words, illustration and creativity intersect, also evoking the importance of Portuguese Sign Language as a means of communication and expression.

The activities take place between Tuesday and Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and vary in duration between 45 and 90 minutes, with the exception of the “Doors Wide Shut” program, which is available from Monday to Friday. The activities are aimed at schoolchildren, ATLs and the general public, in groups with a minimum of six and a maximum of 70 participants.

Participation requires prior registration by calling 239 828 052 or emailing [email protected]. The teaching kits associated with the program can also be requested by email, allowing them to be used in a school, family or institutional context.

Alongside the CACC program, the exhibition “A Syllabary to be Reconstructed IV“, which can be visited until June 28 at Culturgest in Porto, is still open. Curated by José Maçãs de Carvalho and Filipa Valente, the project brings together works by various contemporary artists and proposes a reflection on the relationship between image, language and narrative, as part of the Portuguese Contemporary Art Network.
