The 1st edition of the Remax White Corrida da Mulher de Coimbra will be held on May 2, bringing together participants in a five-kilometer run or walk with the start scheduled for late afternoon. The initiative, organized by the Associação Recreativa Casaense – Escola de Atletismo de Coimbra, in partnership with Coimbra City Council and the Coimbra District Athletics Association (ADAC), combines the promotion of sport with a charitable cause.
With around two months still to go until the Remax White Coimbra Women’s Race and Sanfil Walk (five kilometers), more than a thousand participants have already confirmed their attendance, including amateur athletes and occasional runners, from all districts of the country and various nationalities.
The race also has a charity component: part of the entry fee goes to the Association for the Defense and Support of Life (ADAV) in Coimbra, an institution dedicated to supporting the family, promoting human life and defending the dignity of women.
ADAV provides various social support services, including psychological, legal and social support, as well as the Maternity and Children’s Bank, which provides essential goods to women and families in vulnerable situations.
Event inspired by three female figures from Coimbra
The Remax White Corrida da Mulher de Coimbra is inspired by three symbolic figures from the city’s history and identity: the Tricana of Coimbra, a symbol of the woman of the people and of Coimbra’s popular identity; Queen Santa Isabel, associated with solidarity and the historical connection to the city; and Inês de Castro, a remarkable figure from Portuguese history linked to the memory of Coimbra.
The race will also feature Solange Jesus as its ambassador, one of the most outstanding Portuguese athletes in the cross-country, cross-country and middle distance disciplines and winner of the last five editions of the São Silvestre de Coimbra.
Registration is still open
The initiative is open to participants of both sexes, of all ages and levels of preparation, allowing them to choose between running or walking the same five-kilometer route.
Registration is still available via the race’s official website, where you can also consult the regulations, program and other information about the event.
The route is still open since the proposal presented (and accepted by the PSP) interferes with the Metro. We are therefore awaiting a response from Metro Mondego before it can be made public. The kits will be delivered at the University Stadium, next to P1.
All the information about the event can be found at www.corridadamulherdecoimbra.com. Any additional information that is not available on the website is pending confirmation.
