Entrance to the Coimbra Municipal Museum (MMC) is free this Saturday, October 25, as it is every fourth Saturday of the month. The Coimbra Contemporary Art Centre (CACC), on the other hand, is closed and the PAF program (De Portas Amplamente Fechadas) is taking place from Monday to Friday, while a new exhibition is being prepared.
In the Chiado Building, visitors can see the Telo de Morais permanent collection, made up of Portuguese paintings, porcelain, furniture and sacred art. This weekend is also the last chance to see the exhibition “A Man Among Men”, which ends on Sunday and presents part of the collection of Christs by Maria Helena and Luís Teixeira.
The Almedina Gallery is showing the exhibition “20 anos de Arqueologia em Desenhos”, which marks two decades of municipal archaeological research. Visiting hours for these spaces are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The Almedina Tower hosts the exhibition “Eu, Dona Isabel, Rainha de Portugal”, dedicated to the 400th anniversary of the canonization of Isabel of Aragon. The Torre de Anto presents the Núcleo da Guitarra e do Fado de Coimbra, which combines the history of the song and the instrument with the heritage of the medieval building. In the Inquisition Building, you can visit the permanent exhibition “Jews of Coimbra – from Tolerance to Persecution: Memories and Materialities”.
The opening hours of these centers are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. (in the Almedina Tower and Anto Tower), and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. (in the Inquisition Building).
The Coimbra Contemporary Art Centre (CACC) is temporarily closed while the PAF – De Portas Amplamente Fechadas program takes place, which anticipates the setting up of the next exhibition.
