Antiques fair livens up downtown Coimbra next Saturday

The Coimbra City Council is organizing another monthly edition of the Feira de Velharias, next Saturday, the 23rd, this time on the pedestrian axis linking Praça 8 de Maio and Rua Ferreira Borges. The change of location is due to the occupation of Praça do Comércio with programming as part of the “Verão a Dois Tempos” event.

The Antiques Fair will run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and visitors will be able to appreciate and buy objects related to different sectors of activity, ranging from ceramics, jewelry, goldsmiths, tinsmiths and various household utensils. Collecting also occupies a prominent place, judging by the presence of stalls displaying, for example, medals, postage stamps, vinyl records and vintage books.

The Feira de Velharias is part of the urban cultural program that Coimbra City Council has been promoting for 33 years. A pioneer in the context of similar national fairs, it is recognized as a benchmark event for collectors and the inhabitants of Coimbra, while at the same time being an attraction for national and foreign tourists who visit the city at this time of year.

The next edition of the event is scheduled for September 27.
