CACC presents educational program in October as part of the “Double Shadow” exhibition

September 30th

During the month of October, the Coimbra Contemporary Art Centre (CACC) is running an educational program associated with the exhibition “Sombra Dupla” (Double Shadow), on display until the 12th. The initiative, promoted by Coimbra City Council, includes accompanied visits and various proposals for artistic mediation aimed at different audiences.

As part of the exhibition, six didactic kits have been created to explore artistic languages inspired by works by Gabriel Abrantes (“Frame by Frame”), Luísa Jacinto (“Ânsia”), Gunter Forg (“Abstrata Figura”), Carlos Mensil (“Quebrável”), Daniel Canogar (“Um salto maior que a perna?”) and Sónia Almeida (“Ser Deslizante”).

The activities are aimed at schools, families and ATLs, for groups of between six and 20 participants, and take place from Tuesday to Friday, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m., with sessions lasting 45 to 90 minutes, subject to prior registration (telephone 239 828 052 or e-mail [email protected]).

The CACC also offers workshops based on more than 50 kits developed in previous exhibitions, which include proposals for written expression, three-dimensional construction and plastic expression challenges. These resources can be used in a school, family or ATL context.

Another highlight is the “A Gesture That Counts!” workshop, which uses pictorial stains to challenge participants to create visual or textual narratives, culminating in the creation of a fanzine. The project values gesture as an artistic expression and underlines the importance of Portuguese Sign Language as an official language.

Like the other activities, this workshop is aimed at schools, ATLs and the general public, in groups of six to 20 participants, taking place from Tuesday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a minimum duration of 45 minutes and a maximum of 90 minutes. Registration is required through the usual contacts.
