Applications for the 2025 edition of the Coimbra City Council Female Entrepreneurship Award close on October 19. Applications must be made through the online services of Coimbra City Council (CM), by registering on the platform and using the electronic form available for this purpose. The municipal award, which is divided into two categories (Project Award and Career Award), aims to recognize and honour outstanding personalities and to value and stimulate innovative initiatives conceived, developed and implemented by promoters and/or entrepreneurs in the municipality. The award will be presented on November 19, the date on which women’s entrepreneurship is celebrated worldwide.
The Coimbra City Council Women’s Entrepreneurship Award annually honors women who stand out for their innovation, leadership and contribution to the development of the municipality. Divided into two categories, the Project Award and the Career Award, this municipal initiative aims to recognize personalities of merit and encourage innovative initiatives designed, developed and implemented by women entrepreneurs.
The Project Award distinguishes a project led by one or more women, implemented in Coimbra in the last five years, which has demonstrated a significant impact on society. The Career Award honors a female personality with a remarkable professional career in the last ten years, who has been a protagonist or catalyst of entrepreneurial actions in the municipality, promoting inclusive and sustainable growth.
Nominations are open until October 19, with the awards ceremony scheduled for November 19, the date on which women’s entrepreneurship is celebrated worldwide.
In this second edition, the jury is made up of seven members and is chaired by the mayor of Coimbra (who will be represented in case of impediment). The other members are: Cândida Malça, president of the Polytechnic Institute of Coimbra; Gabriela Fernandes, pro-rector of the University of Coimbra for Entrepreneurship; Rosa Isabel Cruz, Socialist Party councillor in Coimbra City Council; Sónia Pinto, director of the Coimbra Employment and Professional Training Center and the winners of the previous edition, Irina de Sousa Moreira and Teresa Mendes, in the categories of Project Award and Career Award respectively.
The prize is worth 3,000 euros for the Project category and 2,000 euros for the Career category, and the prize is indivisible and cannot be awarded posthumously.
