The “Montra das Artes & Ofícios” returns this Sunday, September 21, to downtown Coimbra, between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., this time in association with the European Heritage Days, which this year have “Architectural Heritage” as their theme. As well as the usual 17 exhibitors, the event includes traditional pottery workshops run by CEARTE and a stonemasonry demonstration, along with musical and ethnographic entertainment.
The event aims to value traditional crafts linked to architecture and intangible heritage, highlighting artisanal know-how. Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m., there will be open workshops on traditional pottery, with no need to register, and throughout the day, Sérgio Duque, a craftsman from Cantanhede, will give live stonework demonstrations.
The program also includes the participation of the municipality’s associative movement, with the performance of the Salatina Association’s group of bagpipers, at 11am, and the Vila Nova Typical Ranch, which will parade and perform from 4.30pm, on a route between Largo da Portagem and Praça 8 de Maio.
The “Montra das Artes & Ofícios” is organized by Coimbra City Council, in partnership with the Agency for the Promotion of Downtown Coimbra (APBC), CoimbraMaisFuturo and CEARTE – Centro de Formação Profissional para o Artesanato e Património.
The initiative will return to Ferreira Borges and Visconde da Luz streets on October 19
