Arts & Crafts Showcase

Ferreira Borges and Visconde da Luz streets will host another edition of the “Montra das Artes & Ofícios” next Sunday, October 19, from 9am to 7pm. The initiative will bring together 20 artisans, who will demonstrate their craft with live work. The event will include three entertainment moments by the Banda Filarmónica de Ceira, the concertina group “Os Sempre na Paródia” and the Folklore Group of the Casa do Povo de Ceira.

The “Montra das Artes & Ofícios” brings 20 exhibitors to downtown Coimbra next Sunday, allowing visitors to enjoy live work linked to traditional arts and crafts. In this edition, the art of creating handmade objects will be highlighted with the presence of António Carvalho (“Tronco Artesão”), who proposes to sculpt an anthropomorphic figure in wood, about one meter long, and is open to the contribution of visitors who want to experiment and join in the creation of the piece.

The event also features weaving from Almalaguês and crockery from Coimbra, products of Coimbra origin, but also from other areas of craft production, such as ceramics and leatherwork, wooden utensils or pieces made using gourds and other materials harvested from nature.

This edition includes three entertainment events. The first is scheduled for 11 a.m. and will be performed by the Ceira Recreational and Musical Association Philharmonic Band. The second, in the afternoon, at 3pm, will be performed by the concertina group of the Artistic and Cultural Association “Os Sempre na Paródia” from Coimbra. Finally, at 4.30pm, the cultural entertainment will be provided by the Folkloric Group of the Casa do Povo de Ceira.
