Coimbra City Council offers selective collection of bio-waste through the L.ai app

September 26th

It is now possible to schedule the selective collection of bio-waste through the digital application L.ai – Holistic Waste Management. The functionality is in a pilot phase and is, for now, available in the area between Vale das Flores and Solum, covering households and local establishments, including the catering sector.

Adherence to the service is done by filling in a form on the app. Once submitted, the municipal services assess the request and contact the applicant to provide the necessary information and arrange delivery of the appropriate equipment for sorting and collection.

The selective collection of biowaste aims to reduce landfill and the consequent environmental impact, namely methane emissions, while also making it possible to recover food waste through the production of organic compost or energy.

The app L.ai – Holistic Waste Managementlaunched in May, is available free of charge for devices Android e iOS. In addition to the selective collection of biowaste, it allows you to report waste-related incidents, request bulky waste collection at home, access educational content on waste management and consult tools associated with the circular economy.
