D. Pedro V Municipal Market opens on Good Friday and has an operating schedule for 2026

March 20th

The D. Pedro V Municipal Market, in Coimbra, will be open on Good Friday, April 3, maintaining its usual operation on that holiday. The information is contained in Coimbra City Council Notice no. 61/2026, which establishes the market’s operating calendar throughout 2026.

According to the Notice, the market will also be open on other specific dates, namely City Day (July 4), the Assumption of Our Lady (August 15) and the December 1 and 8 holidays.

On the other hand, the market will be closed on several public holidays and on dates on which, by tradition, commerce is closed, such as Easter Sunday (April 5) and the following day, as well as on April 25, May 1, Corpus Christi (June 4), June 10, October 5, November 1 and December 25 and 26. The closure also extends to January 1, 2027.

Over the Christmas period, there will also be an adjustment to the timetable, with the market closing earlier on December 24, at 17:00. On January 2, 2027, floor 0 will be closed, as is usually the case at this time of year.

On April 6 and December 26, the market will only keep the entrances to the upper floors open, allowing access exclusively to the municipality’s public services.
