CACC presents its August program with workshops, guided tours, and drawing.
The Coimbra Contemporary Art Centre (CACC) presents, during the month of August, a program that combines artistic mediation activities with visits to the exhibition “Pares Ímpares I”, on display until September 20th. The exhibition is the result of a partnership between the Coimbra City Council and the Arpad Szenes – Vieira da Silva Foundation, inviting different audiences to explore contemporary art through experimentation, drawing, and the discovery of the works. The program includes summer workshops for groups throughout the month, a guided tour with curator Nuno Faria, a new session of the Artsketchers workshop, and free admission on the fourth Saturday of the month, August 22nd.
Throughout the month, the summer workshops continue, with proposals that invite children and young people to discover the exhibition “Pares Ímpares I” in a creative and participatory way. The workshops take place from Tuesday to Friday, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The workshop “Shoot away the bee!” This project proposes a dialogue between the works of Vanessa Beecroft and Maria Helena Vieira da Silva, challenging participants to explore body movement and transform it into compositions through collage.
In “Art Lasagna!”, participants are invited to build layers inspired by the works in the exhibition, the building’s architecture, and the curatorial choices, exploring concepts such as figure, abstraction, and color through conversations and graphic constructions.
Meanwhile, “GeoGesture!” Part of the works of António Palolo and Carlos Correia will be used to explore the relationship between geometry and gesture, encouraging experimentation with lines, stains, and painting in a practical and creative approach.
The workshops last a minimum of 90 minutes, are intended for organized groups of six to 20 participants, and require prior registration.
Guided tour of the exhibition and free entry: On August 22nd, at 3:00 PM, a guided tour of the exhibition “Pares Ímpares I” will take place, led by curator Nuno Faria, providing the public with an opportunity to learn more about the exhibition project and its main themes.
At 4:00 PM, a new session of the Artsketchers workshop will take place, an initiative aimed at those over 18 years of age that invites participants to develop observational drawing in an environment of sharing and artistic guidance. Participants must bring their own drawing materials; participation is free upon registration.
On the same day, August 22nd, the fourth Saturday of the month, entry to the Coimbra Contemporary Art Centre is free, reinforcing the municipal policy of promoting accessibility and bringing contemporary art closer to different audiences.
Registration for the summer workshops, the guided tour, and the Artsketchers workshop is mandatory and can be done by phone at 239 828 052 or by email at [email protected]
