The Municipal Urban Transport Services of Coimbra (SMTUC) inform that the Market Lift will reopen to the public from tomorrow, Monday, January 26, after a period of maintenance work.
This intervention has made it possible to reinforce the safety, reliability and comfort conditions of the equipment, which ensures the connection between the Baixa and Alta of Coimbra, in an area of high centrality and historical and tourist relevance.
The Market Lift allows residents, shopkeepers and visitors easier access between these two central and historic areas of Coimbra, contributing to more inclusive and sustainable mobility, in a setting of excellence.
The Market Lift is open on weekdays and Saturdays from 07h30 to 21h00; and on Sundays and public holidays from 10h00 to 21h00.
It should be remembered that this municipal facility, inaugurated in 2001, connects Rua Olímpio Nicolau Rui Fernandes (in Baixa) to Rua Padre António Vieira (in Alta), in a mixed route consisting of a vertical elevator in the first 20 meters and an inclined elevator to the top, at 51 meters.
The SMTUC is grateful for the understanding shown during the period of service interruption and reiterates its commitment to maintaining and enhancing the transport infrastructure at the service of the population.
