The new work of the “Outdoor ’26” project can now be seen on the façade of the D. Pedro V Municipal Market in Coimbra. After the presentation of Joana Ramalho’s work in April, the public art project promoted by the Association for Creative and Artistic Development – P28 is now continuing with a work by Inês Botelho.
The new large panel (8×3 meters) is already installed in the D. Pedro V Municipal Market, continuing Coimbra’s participation in this public art project. During the month of May, a work by Inês Botelho will be on display.
The visual artist develops work centered on the processes of image construction and the relationship between drawing, gesture and experimentation. The work presented here exposes plans, projects and studies of something yet to be realized, making visible what would normally remain hidden in the creative process.
The composition articulates technical drawing and free gesture, generating forms in tension that reveal the work as a process in development, marked by experimentation, correction, error and discovery. In this context, the panel does not present a closed result, but rather the inscription of an open-ended process, where each stroke shows the constant negotiation between intention and discovery.
Graduated in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon and holds a master’s degree from the City University of New York, Inês Botelho develops work in the field of plastic arts, with a regular presence in exhibitions and institutional collections.
Project passes through 7 cities until October
The “Outdoor ’26” project circulates through seven Portuguese cities until October, presenting each month a new work conceived specifically for this urban context. In addition to Coimbra, the circuit includes Lisbon, Setúbal, Évora, Faro, Viseu and Viana do Castelo.
This year’s edition brings together works by Joana Ramalho, Carla Cabanas, Inês Botelho, Félix Mula, José Pedro Croft, Martinha Maia and Rodrigo Bettencourt. Integrated into everyday urban life and on continuous display, the project transforms media traditionally associated with advertising into spaces for artistic enjoyment, promoting widespread access to contemporary art.
Created in 2012, “Outdoor” is a public art project that aims to democratize access to contemporary creation through the occupation of advertising spaces. The P28 Association is a structure funded by the Portuguese Republic – Culture/Directorate-General for the Arts, as part of the Sustained Support Program for the Arts. It is a non-profit cultural association dedicated to the dissemination of contemporary artistic practices and the promotion of art in the experience of mental illness.
